Another Daniel At Breakfast

Promises are hard to keep.Especially when you make a pact with yourself.I tell myself every time that I would spend more time, updating my blog and read more books. But more often than not I found myself breaking those promises. This time, I think that maybe, just maybe I should promise myself that I will at least update it once a week.So I came up with a poem to restart this blog ;)

This poem I wrote, was inspired by the original poem by Phyllis McGinley.Everyday, when I flip through the newspaper I feel angry, or sad with whatever that is happening in the world.Yet I am not brave enough to leave my comfort zone to make a change or at least lift a finger to help make our world a better place, instead I wait for the world to change. A very shameful confession ;(.

As I sat at the cafe,
Enjoying my sauteed mushroom with toast,
Accompanied with a cup of freshly brewed coffee,
I flipped through my morning read,
Whereby these pieces of papers.
Narrated various stories,
Of endless social illness,
Poverty,pollution,economy,subsidies
And the shocking slaughter of Mari Marvara,
Thus,my heavy heart cried with sympathy and solicitude,
But it is also crammed with exasperation and execration,
And yet,as the last page came to sight,
I ordered another cup of coffee,
Whilst I chatted away happily on my Blackberry,
Shame to admit with that,
It makes me nothing more than just another,
